"Busójárás of Mohács" is held for only six days every February in Hungary, Mohács.

In Mohács, a town located at the southern tip of Hungary.

The name of the festival is "Busójárás".

"Busó" means people with masks, and "járás" means a festival.

I went to this festival, which is registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, and I would like to introduce how to get there and its attractions!

From Budapest to Mohács by bus at NEPLIGET BUS TERMINAL

NEPLIGET BUS TERMINAL

BUS INFORMATION

  • PRICE:3705ft - 4200ft
  • TIME:2.5hours

The bus center was fairly spacious, with some sort of concession stand, and a café!

There was also a vending machine, but that only took credit card payments.

You can pay by hand directly to the bus driver!

I am not sure if it depends on the number of passengers, but the fares were different for going to and returning from the bus.

There are several bus stops at the NAPLIGATE, so it is safe to ask the person at the counter in the basement.

Bus departure times are shown on the VOLANbusz website when you enter your destination. You can also make reservations here!

Then it's time to go!

With USB port!

You can charge your phone

It will be running non-stop for almost 3 hours.

So, you should go to the restroom in advance and make sure you have something to drink.

Arrived at the Mohács

Mohács bus terminal

This is the bus terminal in Mohács.

Check the return bus time ahead of time.

I have heard stories of people who found that there was no return bus, all the hotels were booked, and they had no choice but to camp out outside.

It seems that most hotels are fully booked during this time of year.

There is a market, a Ferris wheel, and a stage.

You can enjoy Hungarian authentic food.

Good smell, Good taste.

And also enjoy music

It is a bit dangerous, right?

Just a short walk from the bus terminal, you will see a square with a market.

Here you can fill your stomach with Hungarian specialties food.

This "Bucsójalász" is held every year in February, and it is quite or rather quite cold!

So the hot wine and hot chocolate you drink here are exceptional!

However, after 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, it would be really crowded so that it is difficult to walk around!

I suggest you have an early lunch or something! You can eat slowly.

Big festival!

It is a big Festival in whole town

Busó fine-tuning the position of his mask.

It is a rather large-scale festival using the entire city.

Since the entire town is involved in the festival, many of the regular stores were closed during this period.

There were many food stalls, but there was a long line of people waiting in line from mid-afternoon.

It is hard for a solo traveler to wait in line for stores.

A lot of Busós are walking in the entire town

It is like a movie

Women have a mask and black clothes

There are events every hour, where the Busós are active, but there are also very many ordinary Busó-couples walking around town like this.

If you ask them to take your picture, they will gladly do so. and they were basically willing to take your picture!

You can buy souvenirs, eat food, and listen to music on the main street... time flies by!

Busó Palade

Palade at the square

Sometimes they throw flour at us or poke us with a stick they have.

Fantasy...

Really cute housed🐴

The main event of this trip!

Busós is walking in the entire central square.

They walk for about an hour, making noises and throwing flour.

Some groups walk with horses, others with coated tractors, it's pretty powerful!

Many events per hour

Many events

The schedule of events is generally fixed.

For the parade in the central square, I actually took my place about 30 minutes before. Even so, it was quite difficult.

If you don't do that, you might not be able to see the parade at all.

It is a good idea to know the schedule in advance and move early.

A pile of straw like this is placed in the central square.

At sunset, a fire is lit, and this is the best part of "Busójárás! my Hungarian friend told me.

But I couldn't see it because of the bus time.

"If you want to see it all the way through!" and "I want to stay one night!"

If you want to stay overnight, make your hotel reservations as early as possible.

I got this picture from my friend!

That is amazing!

Also, you can enjoy around the town

There's even a place in town where you can see the workshop!

「What? is this really entrance?」

Perhaps, you will think so.

It is located in the middle of nowhere, along an empty road.

The bicycle in the photo below is the entrance.

In the workshops

Smile!

END...

The festival is held every February.
If you are going to Hungary at this time of the year, don't miss it!
