"Where is the best restaurant in Sofia?"
"If I go all the way, I want to visit some cafes!"
In this article, I would like to introduce some of the restaurants and cafes I visited during my trip to Sofia, Bulgaria🇧🇬.
I don't know if they are "as good as others" or not, since I stopped by them only on a whim, but I was personally satisfied with all of them, so I will introduce them here.
I will also tell you about some restaurants that were introduced to me by other travelers at hostels (but I could not go).
1 Authentic Bulgaria cuisine "Mehana Mamin Kolyo"

Mehana Mamin Kolyo
This Bulgarian restaurant called "Mehana Mamin Kolyo" is a place where I was told by a travel friend that "the atmosphere is nice and the food is good".
Actually, the atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious.
It's a bit expensive, but it's a great place to eat.

authentic atmosphere
The many antiques, including ethnic costumes, were lined up in a narrow space, which made me realize that I was in Bulgaria!
The use of red and green as the base color was also very Bulgarian.

Bulgarian cuisine

Too much Salad
I had a beer, salad, and this food that was recommended to me by the staff.
The beer soaked into my body.
I felt it was a bit "expensive".
I don't think this is a restaurant for tourists, but I guess it is a place for locals to go when they want to spend a gorgeous time.
2 Modern & Antique Cafe "Coffee Syndicate"

Coffee syndicate
The second is "Coffee Syndicate", a stylish cafe with a modern atmosphere.
Although it is a two-story building, the compact interior was crowded with so many people that there was nowhere to sit when I visited.

Antique
As you can see in the photo, concrete walls, and small stylish antiques.
The place was crowded with local people, but the atmosphere was very relaxed and you could relax for a long time.
When I went there, it was early February. It was snowing, so I used it as shelter from the cold.

Good coffee and dessert
Cappuccino and one dessert.
I think it was caramel cream. It was delicious!
Located in the center of Sofia, it is quite accessible, so take a break from your trip.

This dessert is the most popular
3 Authentic Afghan Cuisine "Khaala Sara Foodz"

Khaala Sara Foodz
"You were in Bulgaria, why choose Afghan food?"
If you go down to Bulgaria in Europe, you will find many restaurants serving West Asian cuisine, including Turkish food.
Since I was staying two nights, I decided to have lunch at a restaurant called "Khaala Sara Foodz," which I found during a walk.
The owner seemed to be an immigrant from Afghanistan and was fluent in Bulgarian language.

320g Big Fried Rice
Order this rice.
First of all, I was stunned by the amount of rice, wasn't I?
If you look at the menu carefully, it says "320g" which is indeed a lot!
But the taste is quite good, with the sweetness of the raisins and the saltiness of the seasoned rice, and the meat buried inside is also tender and delicious!
I could find a completely good restaurant.
Good Restaurant that is recommended by Hotel Staff and Tourist
These are the three restaurants and cafes I visited during my trip.
Next, I will introduce some Bulgarian restaurants that I could not visit this time but were recommended by the hotel staff and the travelers in the same room.
1 Hadjidraganov's Houses Restaurant

Google map
A Bulgarian restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, located a little out of the tourist center.
The relaxed atmosphere seems to be very comfortable, and I met a traveler who said, "I go there every day."
It is located not far from the bus terminal.
2 Veda House

Google map
This is a "vegetarian restaurant" that a vegan traveler told me about.
It was recommended to me as being good with large portions, but I really wanted to eat meat, so I ended up not going.
3 Chaika

Google map
Although a bit far from the center of the city, here is a restaurant where you can enjoy the local flavor at a relatively affordable price.
This restaurant was told to me by a hotel staff member, who told me that it is located near his house and that it is "inexpensive and delicious."
4 The Hadjidragana Tavern

Google map
As you can see, this restaurant, located along the main street of the most touristy area, is a bit expensive.
However, it is a restaurant where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Bulgarian country from every corner.
If your stay in Bulgaria is short, but you want to have a proper Bulgarian meal, this may be the place for you.
Great Pizza & Bread Shop

Fortunately, I found it
I went to this bakery for my last meal in Bulgaria.
"I was hungry." and "I wanted to have something to eat on the plane tomorrow."
So I went to "Focaccia Pizza", which I found along the main street.

dessert
From dessert-type stuff, pizza-type stuff prepared bread-type stuff, and even vegan stuff.
There are bakeries in many places, but this one was delicious and I will share it with you.
End...
Thank you for reading this far.
